"My mural pays homage to an educational bird at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program in Fort Collins, Colorado. For 33 years the program has served Colorado in the rescue and rehabilitation and release of injured birds of prey. Their program also plays a vital role in community outreach and education about raptors and local ecology. These educational ambassadors allow the opportunity to train select birds for educational purposes, while still providing them a fulfilling life in captivity. My mural is a portrait of their rough legged hawk that was admitted in 2002 from severe head trauma from being struck by a car. It is my intention to highlight local wildlife while bringing awareness to the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program so communities around can continue to support their good work."
