Justin DeCou

Mural Location: 1909 Broadway #100 Boulder, CO 80302 (Inside Street Wise HQ)

Shoutout to Justin DeCou for bringing our Street Wise Headquarters to life for the 2022 festival! The Denver-based artist also known as JUHB transformed the entrance to the space using his signature intricate and colorful style. He is a master at making spaces big, queer, and fun!

Justin created a 6x6 grid on the north wall and filled each square with faces shown in profile. He utilizes a color palette of cool blues and greens and juxtaposes that with the warm oranges and yellows of each bust. The faces are almost identical to each other except for the varying splashes of orange and slight variations of the lips and eyes.

The opposite wall showcases Justin’s intricate doodles in white on a red background. The artist often creates complex patterns with hidden characters and designs throughout - a Where’s Waldo in mural form! Another pattern of blue and pink dashes against teal blue wall connects the doodles to the grid of faces.

You can check out Justin’s murals from the window overlooking the sidewalk at the Street Wise HQ.

About the Artist:

@juhhhb

I go by JUHB. and am a self taught artist living in Denver. I’ve done pretty big murals for the front of the Meow Wolf Denver building and also the Fort Collins Mural Project. Be it doodles, big simple goofy characters, or more of my intricate designs. Love to make things queer, big, and fun.
